Straight Outta Oz

In my 30 Before 30 post I mentioned that one of the things I wanted to do before 30 was see more live shows, concerts and plays! Last weekend, I had the pleasure of seeing Todrick Hall in Straight Outta Oz – which he wrote about his journey to become the performer he is today!

As I mentioned in my NYC post, I absolutely adore Todrick! I have been a huge fan of his from his YouTube days and could not be more excited to watch him blossom into the entertainer he is today! He was amazing as Lola in Kinky Boots, but to watch his passion on stage for something he wrote about his life was truly mind-blowing. Todrick is so talented and so full of life!

Run the River 10K

Guys! I ran my SECOND 10K of the year last week & guess what?! I set a PR {person record for non-runner followers}. I ran the 10K in 1 hour and 5 mins (a full 10 minutes faster than the 10K I ran in March). That is 6.2 miles in 65 minutes! I am sooo dang proud of myself. I was on cloud nine for the rest of the day!

Typically when I run with charity miles, I run for Team Red, White and Blue or the Chron’s and Colitis Foundation of America, but since Saturday was Earth Day, I ran for the National Park Foundation. My run earned $1.60 to the National Park Foundation. I know that this does not seem like a lot, but over time this adds up! I mean, this month alone, I have logged 42.5 miles and have a 5K today! That is $10.63 to different charities thanks to the charity miles app! Seriously, if you are not using this app – go and get it! It is so easy to log miles running, walking or even biking!

I am so super proud of myself and looking forward to running the Wicked Wine Run tonight! Be on the lookout for a post about that run as well.

Also, I have a 10 mile run  (Unmasked 10 Mile Run for your Life) coming up for @hogwartsrunningclub (check them out here) to benefit To Write Love on Her Arms, which is a great organization that is working to end the stigma associated with mental illness, such as depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. If you ever feel like you are alone in the world, PLEASE reach out to them. Remember, you are enough. YOU MATTER! I am going to run this for myself, as I have struggled with depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember. Running has helped me cope with these, but sometimes we could all use a helping hand and I am grateful this organization exists to help us out! And I am even more proud to be a part of HRC, helping to raise awareness for mental illnesses and helping to unmask the stigma related to them.

My goal is one race a month for the rest of the year to help me stay on track to run my half-marathon in November!

It’s My Birthday!

Goodness gracious, it’s my 28th birthday! That means 2 years to the big 3-0! I have decided to mark this monumental occasion with very own “30 before 30” bucket list. I was thinking yesterday about how I couldn’t believe I was turning 28 and I felt like there were so many things I wanted to do before I turned 30. I started reading some lists from some blogs I found online and went from there. The following are a list of things that I want to do in the next 2 years before I hit my next big birthday!

  1. Visit Australia and New Zealand – I am dying to go to Australia and New Zealand, so this is number 1 on my list of things to do before I am thirty!
  2. Perform 30 acts of kindness – over the next 2 years, I will find ways to perform 30 acts of kindness and hopefully someone will pay it forward
  3. Be in 2 states at once – I have always wanted to do this, so why not now
  4. See Niagara Falls – Although I have been to NYC on many occasions, I have never made it this far north!
  5. Take a road trip down the west coast of the United States – I want to Start in Seattle, Washington and road trip down to San Diego, California! Hitting all the big stops in between (Portland, Napa Valley, San Francisco, LA, and so many more)!
  6. Visit Canada – I have heard that Toronto is fun city and I would love to visit!
  7. Take a spontaneous trip to somewhere I have never been – I had so much fun when I spontaneously decided to go to Miami a couple of weeks ago. Next time, I want to go somewhere I have never been
  8. Spend a weekend at the beach cut off from the world – Yes, turn off the phone & unplug… just a weekend of relaxation and good reading
  9. Put my feet in the Pacific Ocean – this kind of goes hand in hand with number 5!
  10. Go on an all-girls trip – I love taking trips with my girlfriends, so I want to do one BIG trip before the big 3-0!
  11. Run/walk a marathon – I am signed up to run a half-marathon this year and would love to run/walk a marathon before I am 30!
  12. Get in the best shape of my life & stay that way – As I work towards my healthy living goals, I want to get in the best shape of my life!
  13. Learn something new
  14. See more live music & concert & plays – this list goes on & on, but I do want to see more live entertainment over the next couple of years
  15. Read more books (broaden my variety) – I love reading, but I definitely need to widen the genres of books I read
  16. Keep up with this blog – I have really enjoyed this blog and want to keep up with!
  17. Get a camera and take up photography again
  18. Teach someone something new – not only do I love learning new things, but I also love teaching someone new things and my job allows me to do this on a daily basis.
  19. Find something I am passionate about and pursue it
  20. Do something that scares me
  21. Visit Ireland – I am dying to go to Ireland & drink a beer in an Irish pub!
  22. Attend my 10 year high school reunion and catch up with people I haven’t seen in years!
  23. Find the perfect “little black dress” – unfortunately, I do not have one, but definitely something I want to find before turning 30!
  24. Take a hot air balloon ride
  25. Go to Harry Potter World – I have been to the original side of Harry Potter World, but I have not been the newest side of Harry Potter World – this is something I definitely want to do before I turn 30!
  26. Try crossfit, just once!
  27. Take up dance (again) – I used to dance and cheer when I was younger and would love to take it up again, mostly as a fun way to help with number 12!
  28. Save money (outside of my 401k) – I have a pretty good 401k set up by giving myself 10% every pay check, but now I want to save up money outside of that. It won’t be easy with car payments and student loans, but a little bit every month helps!
  29. Take a cooking class & make it stick – I am not the best cook and while I can follow recipes pretty easily, I just want to take a class to learn a few tips & tricks
  30. Spend my 30th birthday in Las Vegas!

PHEWW – so that list was a lot harder to make than I thought it would be, but man am I excited to tackle this list! I know I have a lot of “travel” items, but I would rather make memories by traveling the world than have money in my bank account! I will keep y’all updated over the next two years and add links to the posts I create for each item I cross off my list!

March Transformation

Hi guys – can you believe another month has come and gone! This year is a quarter of the way through.. how much good have you done?

I have been running a lot this month! Running is my favorite form of cardio, so I have been trying to get in 2-3 runs a week. Today is the last day of the month and I have run over 40 miles! That is $10+ dollars to charity this month! This year, I have run over 100 a miles, which is 1/3  of my annual goal! SOOOO.. I am going to increase the goal I set for myself in my resolutions & goals post – I am setting myself a goal of 350 miles for the year! That is less than 250 miles to go!


Also, I had my weigh in and measurements taken last week – I have lost 2 pounds since my last weigh in (and I know it is not as much as my last time, but gaining muscle will offset losing pounds). That means, since January, I have lost 9 pounds! NINE POUNDS! I also lost several inches this month

  • Neck (-0.25 inches)
  • Chest (-1 inches – improvement from last month of 0)
  • Shoulders (-1 inches – improvement from last month of 0)
  • Waist (-2 inches – improvement from last month of -0.5)
  • Hips (+0.25 inches- those squats are improving the bootayy ;), but definitely working on this area this month)
  • Bicep (+0.25 inches – need to keep working on my arms!)
  • Thigh (+0.25 inches – attributing this to all of the running & leg workouts, but going to monitor over the next month to make sure I am moving in the right direction)
  • Calf (-0.25 inches)

That makes a total of 3.75 inches lost (1 more inch than last month) and a GRAND TOTAL of 6.5 inches since January! I worked out 3-4 days a week during March (not as much as I planned, but I was busier than I expected), but my eating was not great, so that is something I need to focus on for April!

Here is a #transformation picture for you. The picture on the left is from my senior year of high school (2007) and the picture on the right is from last week! My 10 year high school reunion is this summer and I want to be the best version of myself when I go to the reunion! My transformation over these last 10 years has been tough, with a lot of ups and downs and plateaus. I am thankful to have a personal trainer who pushes me each week to do better. Take a look at the transformation:


Alright guys – this month is my birthday month, so I need to keep up the hard work and grind this month! Summer is just around the corner and I would love to feel great in the bikini I bought a couple of weeks ago 🙂 Here are my April goals:

  1. Hit the gym/workout 4-5 days a week, to be honest, I have realized that 4 days is probably a more realistic goal to hit each week, but I will continue to work hard this month and try to push myself!
  2. Post on the blog as often as possible! I need to find some hairstyles to film videos for you guys, if you have anything you want me to talk about or show you, let me know! Also, if you haven’t already, check out my Wanderlust #confessionsofatravelholic posts (NYC and Miami are live). I am going to Nashville in April, so be on the look out for that post towards the end of the month!
  3. EAT HEALTHY! I really need to focus on this during April to help my goals even more!
  4. GIVE BACK – I use charity miles to give back through running, but I also want to do something in my spare time to give back as well. My goal is to donate time or money this month for a charity.

In addition, I am running 2 races this month:

  • April 22 – Running the “Run the River” 10K in Roswell with a close friend of mine! I am really excited (also, did I mention, I ran a 10K in March!! Check out my Instagram for the post) and looking forward to pushing myself this month!
  • April 29 – Running the “Wicked Wine Run” 5K in Nashville with some friends. Super excited for this run as well, because, well WINE!

February Transformation

Hi guys!

Sorry I haven’t been posting that much with busy season being so crazy! But now I have some time to post more. I know I am a day late on my #transformationtuesday post, but I wanted to post any ways! If you follow my Instagram, you know I am down 7 pounds since I first weighed in 2 months ago! SEVEN POUNDS! Normally I would have gain 10 pounds during busy season, so I am so excited to be negative! I also lost several inches:

  • Neck (-0.25 inches)
  • Chest (0 inches – and I am okay with this one ;))
  • Shoulders (0 inches – I need to work on this area!)
  • Waist (-0.5 inches)
  • Hips (-1 inches)
  • Bicep (-0.5 inches)
  • Thigh (-0.25 inches)
  • Calf (-0.25 inches)

That makes a total of 2.75 inches lost! I am so excited about that! I didn’t work out as much as I would like during February, and that is okay! I got to the gym around 2-3 times a week, and considering the number of hours I was working, that was pretty fantastic!

Here is a #transformation picture for you! The picture on the left is from 2009 and right around the time I decided to make a change for the better. I started playing rugby (yes, I really played rugby and LOVED it) and took up running shortly after. I look at these types of pictures and can’t believe how far I have come! This was when I decided it was now or never to lose the weight and started working hard to get the weight off and keep it off! The picture on the right is from tonight! A sweaty after gym picture, haha! I worked so hard today and loveeee the feeling of my muscles being sore after a workout!

I also like sharing my miles with you guys! As I said, I was super busy this month and didn’t hit the gym as often as I liked, but I did put 27 miles on my running shoes this month – that’s $6.75 donated to charity for February!! Every little bit counts. IMG_3030.PNG

I have run 62 miles in January and February – that is 20.7% of my goal for the year! I am so excited to keep it up!

My goals for March are as follows:

  1. Hit the gym 5 days a week (to make up for February)
  2. Post on my blog 3 days a week (2 hair posts and 1 miscellaneous post)
  3. Eat healthy and make healthy choices, all month long!
  4. Finish busy season strong 🙂

February Update

Hi everyone, happy Saturday!

As February comes to an end, I wanted to give everyone an overview of what’s to come the next month! I have several products I have ordered this week! I cannot wait to try them out and let you know what I think.

Bombay Wand – 32 mm – I have seen several people use this wand on Instagram and thought I would give it a try. I have been itching to try out a bigger wand too so that I could create more wave like curls. I should be getting the wand this week and will do a video! Eek soooo excited about this product.

DevaCurl – I got several products from DevaCurl this week. I ordered Wave Maker, One Condition Original, Light Defining Gel and Delight Light Poo Deluxe. I also found this product on Instagram and thought I would give it a try! I am excited to try these products out and give you an update.

Again, as the month comes to a close I will be posting a #transformationtuesday post and give you an update on my goals for the month!

In addition, I will be trying to record more videos during the week and posting them on Instagram, so make sure to follow me! Hope you guys have a great weekend and make sure to make the last week in February great!

When you can’t sleep…

It’s been a super stressful week and my anxiety is keeping me awake right now! I haven’t worked out since Sunday and I have been eating terribly! Trying to get myself motivated to start new tomorrow (which is actually today)! 

Ever had a week where you get off track and you don’t know how to get back on track? That’s this week for me.  After 6 weeks of going strong, I am struggling! At the end of the day, I think about where I was six weeks ago and where I wanna be in six weeks from now.. 

I love motivational quotes and pictures and hopefully this weekend can be productive and I can get back on track to stay strong next week!

I have two new posts coming for ya in the next couple of days, so stick around to see the two new hairstyles! Also, I bought a new wand! I can’t wait to try it out for all of you!
